Field Types overview

FieldWorks Language Explorer uses several types of fields:

• Single-line text fields (and variations)

• Multiparagraph text fields

• List reference fields

• Date fields

• Custom fields. Any of the field types above and these:

Number fields store only whole numbers.

• Other unique field types you might use include:

• Fields with a check box that you can select () or clear ().

  Affix Process Rule fields hold tables in Allomorphs in lexical entries.

  Media File fields in pronunciations.

Tip

Here are some of the things you can do with fields:

• find a description of each field with the menu button .

For "header" fields, or other fields that do not store any content, the field Help topics state Field type: Not Editable, or similar. The Cross References field is an example.

• change the width of the field label area

• create hyperlinks (in some text fields)

• Move a field
