• This field is at the entry-level for non-affix entries.

• A separate Stem Name field for each allomorph is at the Allomorphs level.

• A separate Stem Name field may also be at the Grammatical Info Details level.

• A separate From Stem Name field for derivational affixes is at the Grammatical Info Details level.

Description:

This field displays and references the name of a Stem Name, which is stored in Category Edit (Grammar).

For each Stem Name, you can define one or more sets of inflection features (a Feature Set) that must be present for a particular stem allomorph to be licit. That is, use Stem Names to control stem allomorphy (not affix allomorphy) that is dependent not on phonological issues, but on the presence of certain inflection features. Parsers use Stem Names. Insert a Stem Name has more information.

The Stem Name appears in the Grammar Sketch under Allomorphy. You cannot display Stem Names in Dictionary.
