RAMP Metadata

This table shows which metadata are pre-populated (from FLEx files) when you archive with RAMP. In RAMP, verify that metadata and then add the rest. Some is in English by design, and some is multi-lingual or language specific.

In RAMP, additional metadata is required (e.g. | Work Stage); others are optional (e.g. Additional Titles) or recommended (e.g. Contributors).

Title

Project Name field in the FieldWorks Project Properties dialog box (General tab)

Broad Type

FLEx selects Wider Audience.

Mode

FLEx selects Text and Machine Processing\Dataset. Other options, such as Speech Recording or Graphic might also be selected.

Scholarly Work Type

FLEx selects Primary Data.

Location and Subject Language

  • FLEx selects that the resource is concerned with a particular language, as indicated by a Y.

  • The default (top) vernacular writing system.

Content Language and Script

All current vernacular, pronunciation, and analysis writing systems.

Date

The date the project was created or range of years (created-last modified), and the date of last modification.

Image Extent

FLEx insert the number of images (pictures) found in the LinkedFiles folder (Linked Files tab).

Dataset Extent

FLEx inserts the number of Notebook records, lexical entries and texts in the project.

Audio/Video Extent

FLEx inserts the number of recordings (not their lengths or the sum of their lengths).

Description

Description field in the FieldWorks Project Properties dialog box (General tab).

Academic Domain

FLEx selects Linguistics and possibly Anthropology (see Resource Sub-Type).

Resource Sub-Type

 

  • Linguistics

  • If the project contains any lexical entries, FLEx selects lexicon (LING).

  • If the project contains any texts, FLEx selects text (primary language data of discourse length, any mode) (LING).

  • If the project contains any interlinearized texts, FLEx selects interlinearized text (LING).

  • Anthropology

If the project contains any Notebook records, FLEx selects ethnography (ANTH).

Software Requirements

FieldWorks Language Explorer, its version; font, and Keyman if any current writing systems in the project use a Keyman keyboard.

Electronic Files

FLEx inserts <name><date><comment>.fwbackup, FieldWorks backup (in the Short Description box), and selects source file(s).
