In this topic, the terms item and subitem include domain and subdomain, type and subtype, and so on.
In the Navigation Pane, click Lists, and then click the list that has the list subitem (subcategory, subdomain and so on) you want to promote or demote.
For lists except the Reversal Index Categories, in the center pane, do one of the following:
Right-click the list subitem, and then click Promote.
The promoted subitem moves one level up in the tree structure and appears in appropriate alphabetical order.
Click the item you want to promote or demote, and drag it to the location in the list where you want to put it, and then release the mouse button there
The list item you dragged moves to the position in the list you released it, and may automatically adjust its position to appear correct alphabetically.
For the Reversal Index Categories list, do the following:
Use the menu button on the Information bar to select the reversal index category that has the subcategory you will promote or demote
In the Category (or Part of Speech) pane, click the Name field label for the subcategory you will promote.
A menu button () appears.
Click the menu button, and then click Promote.
The promoted subcategory moves one level up to become a top-level category, or a higher-level subcategory.
To demote these categories or subcategories, you need to use the Move Category command.
For the Text Chart Markers list, you can also reorder list items or subitems.
