In the Navigation Pane, click Lexicon, and then click Lexicon Edit.
In the Entries pane, click the desired entry.
To insert a sense or subsense, click an existing sense (or maybe an existing subsense) and then do one of the following:
Click the menu button that appears next to the Sense field (Sense 1, Sense 1.1, Sense 2 and so on), and then click Insert Sense or Insert SubSense.
Click the menu button on the Information bar, and then click Insert Sense or Insert Subsense (in sense).
On the Insert menu, click Sense or Subsense (in sense).
Click the Insert Sense link that appears to the right of the Sense field. (There is no link for subsenses.)
A sense is inserted into the current entry or a subsense is inserted into the existing sense or subsense you clicked.
You can insert subsenses in subsenses. The sense/subsense numbers indicate the levels, such as Sense 1, Sense 1.1, Sense 1.1.1, Sense 1.1.1.1 and so on. However, it likely becomes nonsensical to create a deep hierarchy with senses.
Currently, field visibility settings are separate for each level of nesting. If you use the subsenses feature, you may want to manually keep all the levels in sync whenever configuring the visibility of a given sense field. For example, if you set Grammar Note to Always visible under senses, also find or create a subsense and do the same, and so on for any deeper levels you actually use.
You can do any of the following:
If the entry currently does not have any existing sense, use the Insert menu or Information bar to insert the first sense.
