About entry types gives examples and brief linguistic descriptions.
In FLEx, variant forms (variants) are lexical entries that reference an item from the Variant Form Types list. Often, variants often do not have a sense, and contain minimal phonological, semantic and grammatical information. Variants are displayed as minor entries in Dictionary.
You cannot create a new entry as a variant using the New Entry dialog box. Instead, do any of the following:
Insert a variant in an existing entry (Lexicon Edit).
Add a variant while analyzing text (Interlinear Texts).
Change an existing entry to become a variant as follows: On the Information bar menu button (), click Lexeme Form is a variant.
The Variant Type, Variant of, Variants of Sense, Comment and Show Minor Entry fields are added to the entry.
Unspecified Variant can appear in the Variant Type field.
In this case, you need to choose a variant type.
You can use the Summary Definition field to enter a definition.
The Variant Types list normally has Irregularly Inflected Form, with Plural and Past as subtypes (example).
You can also convert a variant to be a irregularly inflected form.
