Subentries field

Full name:

Subentries

Location:

Entry pane of Lexicon Edit, in each sense and subsense

(A separate Subentries field appears at the Publication Settings level.)

Description:

In a sense or subsense, it references and displays lexical entries which are complex forms

  • that use this sense or subsense as a component,

  • and, that you want to make available for display in Dictionary.

Root-based and hybrid views are affected by this field.

Tasks:

  • The order of the entries here also affects order in Dictionary. Set the order in either of these ways:

    • Right-click an entry in the field, and then click Move Left or Move Right to manually reorder the entries.

    • Right-click the field label, and then click Alphabetical Order to set the order of the entries to be alphabetical.

  • You can configure the dictionary to include the subentries or minor subentries. When you do this, the order of the Complex Form Types list determines the sort order by type. Then, the order of complex forms in the field is applied.

  • Right-click an entry in the field, and then click any of the following:

    • Show Entry in Lexicon

    • Show Entry in Concordance

Tip:

  • Entries that are complex forms can also be components of other complex forms. So, even entries that are complex forms have Subentries fields.
